5th CAIR/UP AI for Society Symposium

Call for Papers

You are cordially invited to submit abstracts for the next CAIR/UP symposium.

The date is 17 September 2020.

The venue is 30 Baker Street, Rosebank, Johannesburg – right opposite the Rosebank Gautrain station.

The theme is AI and the Artist: The Art in Artificial. We welcome submissions from any discipline, but we specifically solicit submissions from colleagues and students working in the Performing Arts (Music, Drama), Visual Arts and Philosophy. This symposium is jointly organized by Miles Warrington (Music, University of Pretoria) and Emma Ruttkamp-Bloem (Philosophy, University of Pretoria and the Centre for AI Research) as part of their Rethinking the Human Condition: Philosophical, Artistic and Technological Engagements project at the Faculty of Humanities, University of Pretoria. 

Due date for Abstracts: Abstracts of no more than 500 words must be submitted to Miles Warrington (miles.warrington@up.ac.za) and Emma Ruttkamp-Bloem (emma.ruttkamp-bloem@up.ac.za) by 15 April 2020. Acceptance will be communicated within a week after that date.

Presentation slots will be 25-30 minutes.
